The round emblem with the words Alfa Romeo and a round button in the middle, the left shows a small red cross and the right a snake with a dragon head, devouring a united people, two traditional symbols of the Founding of Alfa (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) - namely, the Lombard capital Milan.

The red cross is from the city arms of Milan and is reminiscent of the standard of Lombard troops, who in 1095 led by Ottone Visconti, Lord of Invorio and Oleggio Castello, the first crusade took off.
